Mother's Day is coming up and so I've been thinking a lot about my mom! Most of my life, my mom was so eager to get everything right. (She's so easygoing now that I’m older!) Her own parents neglected her so she was determined to be the opposite. To be honest, she wasn't perfect. She had too many rules for my sisters and I which made our lives difficult. It was hard to see past that when I was younger. Now I see just how amazing she was and of course, still is.

Some of the best things about growing up in the Ricks household were the delicious dinners, amazing packaged lunches and on-the-go breakfasts my mom would whip up almost every day. (Which, okay, we took for granted.) She signed my sisters and me up for all kinds of activities: gymnastics, soccer, tennis, volleyball... you name it. One of her greatest skills was throwing amazing birthday parties. Every birthday was a pool party/sleepover. She helped me send out invitations, plan out the games, and she made the most incredible Belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream in the morning. I learned endless lessons from my mom including good moral values, spending money wisely, proper social etiquette, and most of all selflessness. I've never known a more selfless person.

One standout memory is when I was 8 years old and upset that I didn't have a costume for the Halloween parade at my school (I now see the silliness of this). Seeing how sad I was, my mom worked all night sewing me an adorable little maid costume. I woke so excited to see what she had done for me. I don’t think I understood the work that went into that little costume. I know now that for about 25 years, she sacrificed a lot more than sleep for my sisters and me.

Today I'm wearing a gorgeous peach dress similar to a blue one I showed you guys last year, if you remember. I thought it would be lovely to style rose gold with peach, so I chose all rose gold accessories minus a clutch, which I'm on the hunt for currently! My Coach 1941 Sport Watch is really the star accessory here, adding a hint of polish and modern elegance to this very feminine look. The larger case makes for a sporty feel while the crystal detailing adds a refined touch. You can wear a watch like this for almost any occasion so you'll definitely see it on me again soon.

Have a lovely day all!

Clear skies? Light breezes? Temperatures in the high 70's? Pinch me. Santa Cruz doesn't usually get weather so incredible. My boyfriend and I decided to make the most of it by heading down to the oceanfront, where we grabbed lunch at Aldo’s and watched the sailboats pass by - we are thinking of renting one for a day. My new tote from UGG® was the perfect size to carry everything I could possibly want and more. The perforated pattern is so summery, and the rich chocolate color will also make it perfect for fall. Plus it adds a fun touch of texture to the overall look, as do the woven soles of my espadrilles.

I couldn't have a better pair of shoes for exploring the city. These are so comfy. The heel is even lined with wool. Neutral and effortlessly beachy, these will definitely be my go-to shoes for warm weather this year.

Have a lovely day!

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this gorgeous little rose garden and had to stop for photos. I named it Villa Casablanca because I felt like I was in a little villa. I'm not too sure why... It was actually surprisingly cold and windy so I threw on a cream sweater later for dinner. My new dress from Delilah Boutique is romantic and perfect for spring. You can dress it down for festival season too! Delilah Boutique also just re-did their website so make sure to check it out :)

 Have a great day!

I'm so happy to say that I'm back to working out every other day and I've kept it up for almost two months now :) I do prefer to workout in a gym but sometimes I like to go to the local track and warm up/stretch first when the weather is nice! I'm in love with all my brand new fitness wear which I may be showing you guys later! But really today's post is all about my new Sol Republic RELAYS’ i5 sound engine headphones and Fitbit Charge HR Heart Rate and Activity Wristband that Verizon Wireless sent me - both of which you guys have a chance to win in my #HapaTimeFitness giveaway!

So first let me tell you a little bit about them both :) When I first opened the box of the Sol Republic RELAYS headphones, there were actually 4 different sized ear pieces! I thought that alone was awesome because we all have different sized ears, don't we? So I picked my size and they fit perfectly thanks to their FreeFlex™ technology. The music came through the headphones really clear and accurate to the volume I chose. There is also a 1 year limited warranty. Warranties are always good!

The Fitbit Charge HR is chock full of goodies! All you have to do is sync it to your computer or smartphone! My favorite one is the sleep quality tool which lets you know how many hours you slept, how many times your sleep was disrupted (dogs barking??), and based on that it can calculate your "sleep quality." It will also keep track of all-day calorie burn and heart tracking. Knowing your heart rate constantly is helpful especially during a workout because it helps you maximize your time, like knowing when you need to take a break and when you need to kick it up a notch. It is also fun to know how many steps you have taken in a day if you are willing to wear it all day of course :)

The online dashboard for the Fitbit also allows you to log food, weight and workouts which can be really helpful!

It's no wonder they call playsuits "playsuits" because they are indeed quite fun. I normally like pairing orange with white or blue denim but in this case brown and nude accessories worked best.

Well now that it's Saturday, what do you have planned? My favorite farmers market is on Saturdays and I need a car wash stat too! I've also been wanting to go to the park for awhile so maybe I'll have time for that :)

Have a great weekend folks!

The thing I love most about Bebe dresses is that they are made with such supreme quality. They often are the only place I can go for bodycon dresses that are not see through, enhance curves and are both stretchy and comfortable. This is also likely the reason why they sell out within days or at most a couple weeks. I simply cannot model my favorite items fast enough sometimes!

Anyways, this is a perfect spring date look! I'm linking to a bunch of similar pink lace dresses for you guys too.

Happy Thursday!
