Favorite Makeup Products

Hey guys! I’ve received a lot of questions from my readers over the years so I thought I would start a new series on my blog where I share a new tip with you guys on Tuesdays (or as I like to call it #tiptuesday)! It will range from beauty tips to travel and everything in between.  And where better to start than with one of the topics I get asked about the most… makeup!

FACE

Foundation & Powders:
I have a couple of makeup products that are an absolute must-have for me, and one of those include this Jane Iredale pressed powder (I usually wear warm sienna in the winter and golden glow in the summer).  This powder is a little on the pricey side, but it’s definitely worth it. It has such a natural finish and I can always find a shade that perfectly matches my skin tone. Since I have oily skin, I will use primer (favorites include Stila and Jane Iredale) and liquid foundation (favorite is Make Up For Ever and my favorite drugstore brand is L’Oreal) to help set in the powder. I then finish with M.A.C’s blotting powder or Aveda translucent powder to reduce shine throughout the day.

Blush & Bronzers:

EYES

I’ve pretty consistently stuck with the same eyebrow powder and eyeshadow for the last few years. I actually this eyeshadow (in Made for Mocha) for my eyebrows and use a blend of the Naked Basics palette with NARS eyeshadow (in Night Breed). I love the NARS eyeshadow because I’ve found it gets the darkest black out of any black eyeshadow I’ve tried.

LIPS

TOOLS

Last but not least are some of my favorite make-up and skincare tools. To help keep my skin clean and refreshed, I use my Clarisonic every night as well as the Lancome make-up remover to help gently remove my eye makeup. Neutrogena makeup remover wipes are also great to keep by your bedside for the nights you’re feeling too lazy to wash your face, or perfect for when you’re traveling.

Love getting a peak into your makeup arsenal! I'm really tempted to try a Clarisonic or even the new Lunas that everyone's been raving about. I'd love to see a post or tutorial on your everyday look!xo, alice / T Y P E N U

Thanks Alice! I actually haven't heard about the new Lunas yet but I definitely recommend trying a face cleanser! Especially if you wear liquid foundation (like I do) then it really helps. The clarisonic mia is a great one to try since it's a little more budget friendly 🙂

I've been using the Urban Decay primer potion for years and love that stuff! I discovered that it's sold at Nordstrom Rack for a great discount, which is great since beauty products can be so expensive!Pollyhttp://gemsandjoy.com

Loved this post! It's always great to read about different cosmetic products and tips for how to get the best results. I recently was told about using fresh Seaberry face oil before my becca primer to lock in skin moisture and keep my foundation lasting all day… best advice ever! It's always looks lovely and dewy especially with Tarte stick blush in tipsy over the foundation. EllieMaplesyrupandteacups.blogspot.com

Thank you and that sounds lovely! I wish I could try but I have to stay away from dewy because I can quickly look "dewy" on my own in just a few hours!

I use it just for my eyeshadow but I have resorted to using the dark brown color for my eyebrows a few times!

So I've been using true match foundation and mac powders for awhile and it actually irritated my skin and left it super dry. They both don't provide a good coverage unless its caked on. I kept using it because it was affordable and they were only brands I knew that best match my skin pigment. After having a baby, my skin changed again and it got worst so I decided to seek out better alternatives. I've been using IT cosmetics liquid foundation and Hello Flawless by Benefit. IT foundation is a little expensive for a tube but you don't use a lot, a dime goes a long way. It not only provides better coverage, it hydrates your skin, it's anti aging, has spf 50, it doesn't settle in your creases, stays on longer and it doesn't feel cakey. You barely noticed you're wearing it. After using it for a few days, I noticed my skin got better and made my skin glow. I use Hello flawless powder if I want a more matte finish. These might not work for all skin types even though it says it does, but it sure works for me. :)XOXO Bo
