I recently got back from Hawaii and I’m missing the beautiful weather!! My boyfriend and I had a great time exploring the island together and getting some R&R. Since Hawaii is a direct 5 hour flight from California it’s always my go-to when I want to get away to the beach. Here are some of the things I recommend for Oahu!
Where to stay:
We stayed at the Modern Honolulu hotel. The hotel is beautiful and located at the very end of Waikiki beach, so you are just far away enough from the crowds but still steps from Waikiki beach, Ala Moana beach, Ala Moana shopping center and lots of great places to eat!
What to do:
There’s always so many beautiful beaches to visit! Some of my favorites spots to stop at are: Waikiki Beach, Waimanalo Beach, Makapu’u Tidepools, Lanikai, Shark’s Cove and Turtle Beach. I definitely recommend going on a catamaran ride for a snorkeling and/or sunset sail. We went on both sailing excursions with Moana Waikiki and it was amazing (you can see my blog post here where we went snorkeling with the sea turtles). We also visited the Byodo-In Temple and I never even knew about this place before! It’s a replica of the original temple in Japan.
When to go
If you can manage to sneak away for vacation during the slow season when everyone else is in school (end of Jan.-beginning of May) then you will miss most out on most the busy season and find better rates on hotels and flights. If you do going summer then try going at the end of August when people start heading home for school and the weather cools down a bit 🙂 The only downside is that it does rain during the winter months!
