Packing for a Weekend Getaway

Packing can often be overwhelming. I used to put off packing until the last minute because the thought of it seemed like so much work. But it doesn’t have to be! The more I’ve traveled, the more I realized the importance of keeping organized and packing smart–and simple–to make the whole process a breeze. And with summer just around the corner, there’s no better time to check off some of those places on your bucket list with a quick weekend getaway!

When packing for a weekend trip, you will probably want to bring two outfits (three at most). It’s important to pack items that are versatile and can be mixed and matched as necessary. This will help reduce the amount of items you need to pack and make it easier to create outfits if you decide to change your look.

For my bottoms I chose to pack a pair of gray pants and jean shorts. Even if I’m going somewhere with warm weather I always like to bring a pair of pants since some places can get surprisingly cold at night. Plus they work great to protect your legs from mosquitoes in the evenings (I always get bit!). For my accessories, I chose gold pieces of jewelry, my blush pink crossbody purse, sunglasses and hat to match both my outfits. I organized my jewelry in their own pouches but If I’m traveling on a longer trip I will pack all my jewelry in into a larger travel case.

I styled both my outfits with different white tops to make it easy to mix and match. The jeans shorts paired with the sleeveless mock neck top and hat is perfect casual day outfit, and then I could easily switch to the long sleeve top for the evening. And since I kept to a pretty similar color theme, it made it easy to select one purse and one pair of shoes to bring for the weekend. You can also bring a pair of heels if you wanted to dress up your look. Remember, less is more when it comes to keeping things simple!

For toiletries, I keep a bag pre-packed with my essentials in my suitcase that I use for all my trips. Some of the items include: a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, lip balm, hair ties, small comb and travel size first aid kit. These are all items I need on each one of my trips plus some just-in-case products.

By keeping this simple approach when packing in mind, it will reduce the time you spend packing and make the overall process a more joyful experience. And it not only makes packing easy–but unpacking as well!

And don’t forget to pack some snacks and NESTEA for the road! You don’t want anyone to get thirsty 🙂
