Watching The Hot Air Balloons in Cappadocia with Lulus

I’ve seen so many photos of the hot air balloons in Cappadocia (Turkey) over the years but I never imagined that one day I’d actually be able to see them in person.  Watching the hot air balloons at sunrise was one of the most magical things I’ve experienced. The view alone of the sun rising over the city is such a beautiful scene, and then add one hundred hot air balloons floating in the sky…it is just unreal.

The Museum Hotel was kind enough to let us watch and shoot photos of the hot air balloons from their property and we had no idea just how perfect of a spot it was until we got there. There are tables to enjoy coffee or breakfast and a pool if you want to take a morning dip. We stayed in the Argo Hotel in Cappadocia which is just a few minutes away from the Museum Hotel and also has a great view of the hot air balloons. In fact, the morning we were leaving for the airport, we walked outside our room and there were balloons floating right over us!

We had gone on a hot air balloon ride the morning before we shot these at the Museum Hotel so we knew they took off around 5:30 AM. We had a 4:00 am wake up call and arrived at the Museum Hotel around 5:15AM and it was so cool seeing all the balloons being blown up before taking off one by one. The balloons only fly for about an hour, so you have to be awake early to get the whole viewing experience!
