Mother’s Day is coming up and so I’ve been thinking a lot about my mom! Most of my life, my mom was so eager to get everything right. (She’s so easygoing now that I’m older!) Her own parents neglected her so she was determined to be the opposite. To be honest, she wasn’t perfect. She had too many rules for my sisters and I which made our lives difficult. It was hard to see past that when I was younger. Now I see just how amazing she was and of course, still is.

Some of the best things about growing up in the Ricks household were the delicious dinners, amazing packaged lunches and on-the-go breakfasts my mom would whip up almost every day. (Which, okay, we took for granted.) She signed my sisters and me up for all kinds of activities: gymnastics, soccer, tennis, volleyball… you name it. One of her greatest skills was throwing amazing birthday parties. Every birthday was a pool party/sleepover. She helped me send out invitations, plan out the games, and she made the most incredible Belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream in the morning. I learned endless lessons from my mom including good moral values, spending money wisely, proper social etiquette, and most of all selflessness. I’ve never known a more selfless person.

One standout memory is when I was 8 years old and upset that I didn’t have a costume for the Halloween parade at my school (I now see the silliness of this). Seeing how sad I was, my mom worked all night sewing me an adorable little maid costume. I woke so excited to see what she had done for me. I don’t think I understood the work that went into that little costume. I know now that for about 25 years, she sacrificed a lot more than sleep for my sisters and me.

Today I’m wearing a gorgeous peach dress similar to a blue one I showed you guys last year, if you remember. I thought it would be lovely to style rose gold with peach, so I chose all rose gold accessories minus a clutch, which I’m on the hunt for currently! My Coach 1941 Sport Watch is really the star accessory here, adding a hint of polish and modern elegance to this very feminine look. The larger case makes for a sporty feel while the crystal detailing adds a refined touch. You can wear a watch like this for almost any occasion so you’ll definitely see it on me again soon.

Have a lovely day all!

Nice story about your mom, but what does it have to do with anything else in the post? It seems to just end abruptly with you taking about the dress and accessories. I was expecting you to say your mom made the dress!
